My Baby Boy

I took Brayden to the doctor this morning. He has a very bad sinus infection and she put him on antibiotics for 14 days. If he doesn't stay well for at least 2 weeks after getting off the meds, she wants me to bring him back in to decide on another course of action.

His doctor has 2 different locations with about 3 different doctors in each one that are available for patients. Unfortunately, I'm not able to choose what doctor he sees on any given day. They all have their own theories and their own methods of treatment and they RARELY coincide. I really liked the doctor today. She was the first to recognize that my baby has been sick nonstop for the past 6 months and actually showed genuine concern. All the others have been putting him on antihistamines and she told me to stop with those immediately. They are drying out his sinuses when the best thing is for them to drain. So he is on a decongestant now for 10 days. I just hope we have finally found something that will work.

I've also taken him off of milk. He is CRAZY about his milk and I'm afraid that the milk may play a part in his constant congestion. I guess I really won't have a way of knowing if it is the meds or the removal of milk that makes him better, but if there is any chance it is contributing to his problems, I am more that willing to remove it. I bought him some soy milk and have been making him fruit smoothies with it and he is loving them. He hasn't had an appetite for the past 3 months and I get some comfort knowing he is getting some nutrients from the smoothies. I've been doing the pediasure thing, but stopped that along with the milk. Not to mention, that stuff is super expensive!!

Today, his fever got up to 103.5 and he was so pitiful. He laid on the couch with me for an hour and a half and anyone that knows Brayden will tell you that is SO NOT HIM! Normally, he does not sit still for more than .2 seconds. It was immediately obvious when his fever started breaking because he gradually got more and more active until he was going full throttle again.

We had a long night with him last night. It was constant up and down from 1-5 am, when he finally passed out in our bed from exhaustion. I am praying he is able to get some good rest tonight. I hate that for him, being sick and feeling awful is the norm right now. I just want to make it all go away. My job is to protect him and make sure he is comfortable and happy. I have done everything I know to do, but it's just not enough. My heart is just breaking for my little man.
